SCHOLARSHIPS

Ka’Å« Hospital Charitable Foundation is proud to sponsor scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year.   Scholarships will be offered to high school or home-schooled graduating seniors, undergraduate college students and employees of Ka’u Hospital wishing to expand their education.  Individual scholarship awards are $1,000 ($500.00 per semester) for students enrolled at any accredited trade school, 2-year or 4-year college to assist with tuition costs.

Applicants must be one of the following:

  • an employee of Ka’u Hospital

  • be a resident of Ka'Å« District

*if attending an out-of-state college, applicant must be claimed as a dependent whose parent or legal guardian's principal residence remains in the district of Ka'Å«.

2024 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:

Jane Ancheta was a scholarship recipient in July 2024.  Jane is a proud mother of 4 and works at Ka’u Hospital as a nurse’s aid.  She is attending Hawai’i Community College pursuing her degree in Nursing.  Her passion for nursing has been ignited by her first-hand experiences as a nurse’s aid contributing to patients’ well-being.  Jane states:  “I’m determined to use my education to inspire others, proving that it’s never too late and age should never hold you back from achieving your goals.”  She feels that earning her nursing degree represents a profound commitment to serving others and making a positive impact in her community.  Congratulations Jane!

Angelica Felipe was awarded a scholarship in November 2024.  Angelica is a sophomore at the University of Hawai’i Hilo.  She is studying kinesiology and exercise science.  Her career goals are to become a physical therapist.  Angelica has volunteered at Hilo Life Care Center and was able to assist and shadow nurses and physical therapists to help patients recover from injuries.   She believes that community service is a way to give back to others and make a difference in her community.  Congrats Angelica!
